The I Look Like an Engineer movement started in the summer of 2015. The movement aspires to break the stereotypes placed on the engineering industry, particularly for women and LGBTQ engineers. Its primary tactic is the use of the hashtag #ILookLikeAnEngineer on social media sites such as, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, along with pictures of engineers or engineering students. The movement was born out of an advertisement campaign created by OneLogin, a software company in San Francisco. The firm placed ads up to invite engineers to join their team by having a few of their employees pose for the ads. Isis Anchalee's ad caught more attention than her fellow coworkers who also participated in the ad campaign. The ad was posted online and and her particular ad received comments stating the belief that she was a model and not a true engineer. Isis took to social media and posted a picture of herself holding a piece of paper describing her job and a caption with the hashtag, #ILookLikeAnEngineer and wrote a blog on Medium stating her beliefs of why #ILookLikeAnEngineer is important. Her post started the hashtag trend and the hashtag was used 86,000 by August 7, 2015. The hashtag has been used in approximately 50 countries. The hashtag is manly used by women and LGBTQ engineers. Isis began a fundraising campaign called Indiegogo Campaign using billboards with pictures that people had put on social media using the hashtag #ILookLikeAnEngineer, the proceeds were used to put up more billboards to further the I Look Like An Engineer campaign and excess proceeds were used to fund organizations that teach programming to minorities. The fundraiser’s goal was to raise $3500 and raised $10,000 with in the first 24 hours. The I Look Like An Engineer movement has sparked other similar movements that also seek to break stereotypes in their industry, such as I Look Like a Surgeon. ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「I Look Like An Engineer」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
